Hawaiian Retreat is a wonderful place to start a vacation in paradise. The natural surroundings and peaceful presence of resident manager .. , who went out of his way to make me comfortable, calm in the body and spirit. There is no better place to experience the jungly Puna Coast. I especially enjoyed the harvesting of bananas and seeing and tasting fruits of various kinds. Also visiting the warm ponds and steam vents! I'll definitely come back and hope to bring some Dutch friends. Thanks for the lovely 2 ½ day vacation. I wish I could stay 2 ½ weeks! This is a perfect place to relax, meditate, and enjoying stunning natural beauty. Part 2 Late morning breakfast with sweet bananas and papayas fresh out of the garden, eaten on the deck overlooking the lush tropical forest…an ideal "wilderness" experience for a city boy. Fantastic parks all around. The swimming in the warm ponds is delightful. The volcano park is awe-inspiring. Great hot vegetarian meals down the road at Pahoa Natural Grocery.
